Chirp profile
A chirp is a signal in which the frequency increases (up-chirp) or decreases (down-chirp) with time. In some sources, the term chirp is used interchangeably with sweep signal. It is commonly applied to sonar, radar, and laser systems, and to other applications, such as in spread-spectrum communications (see chirp spread spectrum). This signal type is biologically inspired and occurs as a ph…

WebCHIRP's focus is to support reading and writing the memory channels of as many radio models as possible. This provides the ability to exchange your programming information between dissimilar radios. It does not focus on supporting every single knob and setting that each radio supports. WebI have a profile in Chirp that works great on one of them, and I foolishly pushed that profile straight over to a UV-5R without checking firmware versions. Chirp crashed, and now the radio won't receive.
WebJul 31, 2024 · It is hardware limitation and CHIRP can't change that. If you want a Baofeng like tri-band radio which has separate band limits and squelch thresholds for each band, then you will have to get a BTech UV-5X3 from Baofeng tech which implements it this way. WebCHIRP supports hundreds of unique radio models, and in many cases, those were developed with borrowed radios, or radios that a developer owned at the time, but no longer has. Rewriting those drivers and testing them with real hardware is an enormous task for an all-volunteer project like this.
