This handbook addresses program-level, or execution-level, IPTs. WebIPTs began to emerge in the Department of Defense in the 1980s to support concurrent engineering approaches and culminated in 1995 with the Secretary of Defense directing the Department to apply the Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD) concept of using IPTs throughout the acquisition process.
